Haslingfield Methodist Church

Background to our Faith To Live By Services

In 1996 following a discussion about the mission of our church we concluded that 'if our Christianity means anything, it should speak to us about current issues of today and meet the challenges people face in their daily lives'.  As a result, we set up a series of monthly discussion services called
'A Faith To Live By'
where we invite speakers able to talk about how their work and faith connects with the world.

Over the 2 decades of these services, we have discussed a wide range of topics presented by medical doctors and surgeons, street pastors, members of the House of Lords, former Presidents of Methodist Conference, a publican and Methodist preacher, prison chaplains, a military padre, a plant pathologist and poet, a genetic engineer and a member of the Metropolitan Murder Investigation Unit.  The evenings take various forms, but usually begin with a short time of worship followed by an address and refreshments.  We then open the topic for general discussion, which is invariably lively and engaging.
